The city’s car rental services have been under fire for a year after Uber launched an UberX service.
The company is facing several lawsuits alleging it broke its terms of service.
New York is a big driver of auto rental companies, with a population of over one million.
The state’s largest auto rental company, Dyson, has its headquarters in Brooklyn and employs more than 100 people.
Dyson is also suing Uber and Lyft, claiming it was unfairly targeted for business reasons by the ride-hailing company.
Uber and its competitors claim they have been unfairly targeted by the taxi-hiring company for its competition.
The suit alleges Uber and the other ride-sharing services have engaged in unfair competition by providing services like UberX that Uber does not currently offer.
A number of cities have recently banned UberX services, but the industry says they are an essential part of the local car rental market.
In New York, the ban is in effect from February 1.
New Yorkers who rent a used car, like Uber and Dyson who are not able to get a refund on their rental, can rent from a third party.
Uber says it has been in contact with the city about the ban.
“Our goal is to continue working with the City and the taxi industry to create a more fair and equitable New York taxi industry,” the company said in a statement.
Uber said it has partnered with other car rental companies to help ease the burdens of getting a refund.
